Vision Correction

Imagine being less dependent on glasses and contact lenses…

No glasses to interfere with your golf game! No fear of losing your contact lenses during contact sports like football and basketball!

Seeing the alarm clock as soon as you open your eyes!

Giving up the routine and hassles of contact lenses! No extra lenses and solutions and cases during traveling!

No search to find your glasses in the middle of the night to attend to the matters that woke you up, especially in an emergency!

The USC Department of Ophthalmology may be able to make these dreams a reality for you. You may be a candidate for laser vision correction such as LASIK or LASEK, procedures that have already helped millions to be less dependent on their glasses and contact lenses.

LASIK and LASEK work by changing the focusing power of your eye. The outer, clear covering of the eye is the cornea. During the LASIK procedure, a computer controlled, cool beam of laser light is applied to the middle section of the cornea, resulting in a reshaping of the cornea. During LASEK, a recent innovation we are bringing to our patients, the laser light is directed closer to the front surface of the eye in patients who are candidates. LASEK reduces the corneal flap and dry eye problems sometimes seen in LASIK. LASIK and LASEK may greatly reduce your dependence on glasses and contacts.

The USC Department of Ophthalmology has always been at the forefront of the latest vision correction technology. Our cornea fellowship trained surgeons have consistently been the first to utilize these new advancements. We now have FDA approval to treat the broadest range of LASIK indications. This includes most all forms of nearsightedness and farsightedness, including combinations with astigmatism and mixed astigmatism. We are able to perform LASIK or LASEK on patients with large pupils, a common disqualifying factor for other lasers. At the USC Department of Ophthalmology, we are proud to provide all pre- and post-operative care by our staff in our office.
